This course will explore the teachings of the first century congregations to new Gentile converts of “The Way” and how it compares to some of the traditions of first century Rabbinic Judaism. Students will become familiar with the text and some of the teachings, the historical background, and some of the possible applications in modern life. Students will discuss the attributed scriptures as reference for its writing.

Rabbi Barney Kasdan

Rabbi Barney Kasdan has been a believer in Yeshua since 1971 and is the founding Rabbi of Kehilat Ariel Messianic Synagogue since 1981. He holds degrees from Biola University (BA History), Talbot School of Theology (M.Div.) and completed one year of graduate studies at the University of Judaism in Los Angeles. Rabbi Kasdan has served in various positions in the Union of Messianic Jewish Congregations (UMJC) including as its President from 1998-2002. He has written numerous articles on Messianic Judaism and is the author of the popular books God’s Appointed Times and God’s Appointed Customs as well as his latest 400-page commentary entitled “Matthew Presents Yeshua, King Messiah” (all by Messianic Jewish Publications). In addition to his congregational duties, he serves as a chaplain for the San Diego Police Department. Rabbi Barney and his wife Liz (also a Messianic Jew) reside in San Diego and have four grown children.
