In this scripture, Revelation 3:14-22, while we may fall short of God's expectations, there is a path for us to be forgiven.  And there is also redemption in the Messiah.  Gods compels us not to be lukewarm in our spiritual pursuits.  These high holidays and Rosh Hashanah involve us dealing with our own internal battle of self-deception.  God encourages us to not be passive about our spiritual well being, so we can be forgiven and redeemed.  We need to make Teshuvah, and return to him!
